Counselling Assessment Intervention and Research Services (CAIRS) provides psycho-educational assessment and counselling opportunities through contracted service agreements with university, school division, and community-based organizations in the areas of:
- specific learning disorders
- attention deficit and hyperactivity or ADHD
- anxiety and mood disorders
- cognitive deficits or disabilities autism spectrum disorders (*Adults only)
- To provide a centre for exemplary on-campus training for graduate students
- To offer community opportunities for accessible best-practice psycho-educational assessments and interventions
- To provide a context for graduate student and faculty research
Our vision is to promote the College of Education and Department of Educational Psychology and Special Education through the integration of practice and research in psychology and counselling psychology (i.e., psycho-educational assessment and intervention).
CAIRS strives to enhance the teaching, research, and community service missions of the Department of Educational Psychology and Special Education and the College of Education. CAIRS provides rich practical training opportunities for graduate students enrolled in the department’s Master of Education program in school and counselling psychology under the supervision of registered psychologists/counselling psychologists (faculty and community members). The Department of Educational Psychology and Special Education recognizes the importance of training future qualified professionals in the fields of psychology/counselling psychology to better address the needs of Canadians living in northern, rural, and urban communities.
Counselling Assessment Intervention and Research Services (CAIRS) provides psycho-educational assessment and counselling services through contracted service agreements with university, school division, and community-based organizations (i.e., university health clinics, school divisions who need to contract specialized services, community organizations supporting individuals with disabilities, etc.).
Fees for service will be discussed and determined in individual signed contracts with an organization to allow the Department of Educational Psychology & Special Education and College of Education to cover costs (i.e., maintaining assessment materials, contract payment for non-faculty supervision of graduate students). Full payment of contracted assessment fees will be required before any assessment is conducted.CAIRS accepts the following payment forms: Mastercard, Visa, Cheque, and Cash.
