The picture at the left shows a conveyer belt (at the left of the picture) spilling the wild rice into a container. Plastic cups move up through the container. The cups scoop up the wild rice mixture and take it up the blue column, called a cup elevator. |

In the picture at the right, you can see brown and black things in a cup. The brown ones are the kernels wrapped in their hulls, while the black ones are kernels that have lost their hulls. They are being taken up about 10 m to be dropped into another machine. You'll see cup elevators at various places around the plant. |
