| The lighter kernels in their hulls (brown coloured) rise to the top of the mixture, and then they float down hill to the left, thanks to the combination of vigorous jiggling and gravity. These kernels in their hulls exit out the back of the vibrating machine. [picture above]
The amount that flows over the back wall (like water over a dam) is controlled by the levers you see in the picture. Right now, some material is leaving the left two exits, where the levers have been adjusted. This material will be returned to the huller. |
