Meanwhile, the wild rice grains collect at the other end of the machine (up hill), and then slide down into the collection chamber shown in the picture. If you look carefully, you can see a U-shaped block in the middle of the picture. This is a powerful magnet that attracts anything with iron in it, such as objects that might have slipped through the screening process.
Magnets are placed at many places throughout the cleaning process. The black material you see in the collection chamber is wild rice grains. The grains slide out the chamber down a chute to the right, where they meet another cup elevator and are taken up to the next machine. |
