The SoTL student travel award is available to provide financial assistance to full-time graduate students enrolled in the Master of Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (MSoTL) or the PhD in Education (SoTL focus) programs who are attending and presenting at one of the following recognized SoTL conferences:
- SoTL Commons Conference
- Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE)
- Mount Royal University SoTL Symposium
- International Society for Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (ISSOTL)
Applicants must be a full-time student registered in the Master of the Scholarship of Teaching and learning (MSoTL) or the PhD in Education (SoTL focus). Students are eligible to receive only one travel award every twelve (12) months.
VALUE OF AWARD:
- $500 for travel within Canada
- $1,000 for travel outside of Canada
Awards will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve, basis to eligible students, subject to the availability of funds. Once the allocated funds for the year are exhausted, no further awards will be granted.
APPLICATION:
Submit a one-to-two page statement including:
- Title of Conference
- Title of your conference presentation (if applicable)
- Conference location and dates
- Budget of projected expenses (registration fee, transportation, accomodation, food)
- Relevance of the conference to your thesis/dissertation
- Notice of your acceptance from the conference organization
Applications must be submitted at least three weeks prior to the start date of the planned SoTL conference. Priority consideration will be given to students who have been accepted to present at one of the approved SoTL conferences.
