2021-22 College of Education Academic Award Recipients
With in-person events cancelled this year, we're virtually celebrating our students' academic achievements and the donor support that makes many of these awards possible.
We asked our award recipients to share their thoughts on what inspired them to become a teacher and why they are grateful for their award. Below are some responses to those statements.

Messages to Award Recipients
Interim Dean College of Education
Though we aren’t able to celebrate your accomplishments in person, I want to share my very best wishes to our student award recipients. These awards are a recognition of your achievements in your courses and your commitment to education, learning and discovery. They are also a recognition of your family, friends and the communities that have supported you along the way, including our community of donors. Thank you to our donors whose generosity and commitment to the College of Education has made many of these awards possible.
Sincerely,
Dr. Beth Bilson, Q.C.
Associate Dean Undergraduate Programs, Partnerships and Research
The student awards celebration is one of my favourite events of the year, and although we aren’t able to come together in person, I am so pleased that we get to highlight your achievements in other ways. Teaching is a calling, and I am always impressed with the dedication our students show to their studies and their growth and development as an educator. Congratulations on this hallmark of your success and achievement. Please take a moment to reflect on all that you have accomplished, and all the people that have supported you and lifted you up along the way.
Sincerely,
Dr. Dawn Wallin
Interim Associate Dean Research, Graduate Support and International Initiatives
Congratulations to all of our student award recipients on your tremendous achievements. To our graduate students: I commend you on your dedication to learning and your commitment to curiosity and discovery. At times the path to a graduate degree can feel daunting, and it is important to celebrate the milestones achieved along the way. While your academic success is the reason for this celebration, these awards also highlight all that goes on behind the scenes that contributes to your success and all the people who have supported you along the way.
Sincerely,
Dr. Vicki Squires
