
USask chosen to host the 2026 international Scholarship of Teaching and Learning conference
The University of Saskatchewan (USask) and the Jane and Ron Graham Centre for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (Graham Centre for SoTL), along with the City of Saskatoon will host the International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (ISSOTL) conference from October 28-31, 2026.
By Connor JayThe announcement was made during the ISSOTL24 conference that took place in French Lick, Indiana this past October. Director of the Graham Centre for SoTL Dr. Melanie Hamilton (EdD) and College of Education associate dean for Research, Graduate Support, and International Initiatives Dr. Vicki Squires (PhD) are the conference co-chairs.
“As the current President of ISSOTL, I am thrilled to announce that the University of Saskatchewan has been chosen as the site for the ISSOTL26 conference,” said Hamilton.
“This event is a vital opportunity to welcome scholars from around the globe to share and explore innovative teaching practices in higher education through the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning research. The Jane and Ron Graham Centre for SoTL and the university exemplify a strong commitment to advancing learning practices through numerous initiatives, including fostering boundless collaboration and preparing learners to meet the world's evolving needs.”
The conference theme will focus on “Building Bridges: Strengthening Relationships and Networks in SoTL” with objectives of fostering collaborative inquiry, cultivating pedagogical communities, promoting cross-cultural understanding and advancing evidence-based practices.
SoTL program coordinator Alison Kraft is looking forward to showcasing USask and Saskatoon to a global audience.
