2025 Pinning Ceremony

The pinning ceremony event marks an opportunity to recognize the successes of the college’s students and to formalize their commitment to the field of education broadly, and to the teaching profession more specifically.

At the pinning ceremony, third-year undergraduate students celebrate the milestone in their academic careers as they prepare to enter their extended 16-week practicum next year. Fourth and fifth-year students who wished to receive their pin in person were also invited to the ceremony. Students are joined by family and friends and special guests. Alumni in attendance were also honoured with a pin.

The pin can only be acquired by current students and alumni from the Bachelor of Education program (University of Saskatchewan). During the ceremony, students are asked to commit their intention to uphold the values and commitments embedded within the Educator's Oath, join their colleagues in receiving a pin representing this commitment, and sign a banner upon which the oath is written. 

"The College of Education is in its 98th year. We share in our celebrations this year with more than 35,000 alumni who have gone on to do great things as professional teachers, in educational service, and in the wide variety of professions and callings where the skills of the teacher offer leadership," said Dean Dr. Julia Paulson.

At the ceremony, University of Saskatchewan interim Provost and Vice-President Academic Dr. Patti McDougall, University of Saskatchewan Vice-Provost Indigenous Engagement, Dr. Angela Jaime, Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation President Samantha Becotte and Elder Liz Settee with the Saskatchewan Urban Native Teacher Education Program (SUNTEP) Prince Albert were among the dignitaries. Faculty, sessional lecturers and staff were also in attendance to support the students and celebrate their commitment to the profession.
